Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
This week in 2018, the Winnipeg Jets eliminated the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the playoffs on April 20th.
Winnipeg was offensively all season by Blake Wheeler, who blew up in a career year scoring 91 points in 81 games, and a sophomore Patrik Laine that scored 44 goals and 70 points in 82 games.
The Jets cruised to a tremendous regular season posting a 52-20-10 record, good enough for 2nd in the Central Division, before meeting up with the Wild in round one. There, the Jets handed the Wild quite a beating that included shutouts in games four and five to secure the series win.
Mark Scheifele and Dustin Byfuglien both scored five points in the series, while Laine, Paul Stastny and Blake Wheeler all put up four points. In net, Connor Hellebuyck shut the door earning two shutouts and a .924 save percentage.
Winnipeg went on to beat the Nashville Predators in seven games, before falling to Vegas in the third round.
