The Winnipeg Jets, who have been a reliable home favorite of late, are catching a road-weary team during the first game of a crucial homestand. The Jets are -160 home favorites while the Buffalo Sabres are +140 away underdogs with a 5.5-goal total on the NHL odds for Tuesday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Jets are 12-4 in their last 16 games as a home favorite with the total finishing UNDER in three of the four most recent games in that sample at online sports betting sites. The Sabres are 5-15 in their last 20 games as an away underdog and are also 5-13 in their last 18 away games against the Western Conference.

Sabres at Jets | OddsShark Matchup Report

Winnipeg has had two days off since a 3-2 loss at Edmonton last Saturday. The average total this year when the Jets are playing on two days’ rest is just 4.92 goals.
The Sabres are 29-28-6, including an 0-3 mark on their current road trip. Buffalo, which ranks 18th out of 31 NHL teams in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (49.1 percent), is trying to get it going offensively as No. 1 center Jack Eichel is mired in a four-game point drought and the Sabres have scored only six goals during their last three games. Buffalo are 21st in goals scored (2.88 per game) and are also 21st in goals against (3.12). The Sabres’ power play is ranked 18th (19.6 percent) and the penalty killing unit ranks 30th (74.3).
Carter Hutton, who is 12-12-4 with a 3.18 goals-against average and .898 save percentage, is due up in the Sabres’ goalie rotation. Hutton has a poor road split, with a 3.68 GAA and .894 save percentage away from home.
The Jets are 33-28-6 and will be trying to improve on a 4-9 record in 13 home games this season against the Eastern Conference. First-pairing defenseman Josh Morrissey (upper-body injury) seems likely to return from a four-game absence, but left wing and power-play finisher Patrik Laine (foot) might be unable to play, which could hurt Winnipeg’s ability to take advantage of the Sabres’ weak penalty killing.
The Jets, who rank 21st in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (48.6 percent), are getting solid production of late from center Mark Scheifele, who has 11 points over the last seven games. The Jets are 18th in goals scored (2.96) and 12th in goals against (2.93). On special teams, Winnipeg’s power play is ranked 17th (19.7 percent) and the penalty killing unit ranks 26th (76.8).
Connor Hellebuyck, who has a 27-21-5 record with a 2.67 goals-against average and .919 save percentage, should get the goaltending start for the Jets.
The Jets have two days off before facing the Arizona Coyotes on Friday.
