The Winnipeg Jets will be trying to end a home losing streak against a hot team with a track record of taking care of business as a road favourite.
The Jets are the +120 home underdog with the Toronto Maple Leafs coming back as a -140 away favourite, while there is a 6.5-goal total on the NHL odds for Thursday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Winnipeg is 0-4 in its last four home games and is also 4-6 in its last 10 home games against the Atlantic Division. Since January 1, 2018, the Maple Leafs are 13-3 in 16 away games as a -120 to -140 favourite on the moneyline. The total has gone OVER in 11 of the last 14 Leafs-Jets games at online sports betting sites.

Maple Leafs at Jets | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Maple Leafs are 22-14-5, including a 9-3 road record since Sheldon Keefe made his coaching debut on November 21. With center Auston Matthews (14 points in his last seven games) on a tear, the Maple Leafs have been pushing the pace as they stand fourth in the 31-team NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (53.0 percent). Toronto is third in goals scored (3.54 per game) but 21st in fewest goals against (3.17)). The Leafs’ power play is fifth in the league (24.1 per cent) and the penalty killing unit ranks 26th (75.8).
Frederik Andersen has a 20-8-4 record with a 2.66 goals-against average and .915 save percentage. Andersen last played Tuesday and he has a 2.18 GAA and .933 save percentage on one day’s rest this season.
The Jets are 22-15-3 this season after a 7-4 road win over the banged-up Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. Top-end forwards Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, Nikolaj Ehlers and Blake Wheeler are each coming off big offensive nights against Colorado as Winnipeg continues to make much of its share of the play with the Jets ranking 24th in the league in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (48.1 percent). However, they are allowing 33.1 shots per game when playing after a one-day break which is dodgy against a top offence such as Toronto’s. The Jets are 15th in goals scored (3.08) and 14th in goals against (2.98). Their power play ranks 15th (19.2 percent), but the penalty killing unit is 31st, or last (71.4).
Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck has an 18-11-3 record with a 2.60 goals-against record and .922 save percentage. Hellebuyck has a 2.91 GAA and .911 save percentage when playing with one day’s rest.
The Jets visit the Minnesota Wild on Saturday to start a four-game, six-road trip that includes a rematch against the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Wednesday.
