JNGD.S8.G70 Flight Plan: Winnipeg Battles Bruised Bruins
By Zee
5 years agoThe Jets continue their three game home-stand tonight against the Boston Bruins, a team that has been suffering through a never-ending list of injuries, the latest victim being defenseman Torey Krug who’s listed as day-to-day with an upper-body ailment. Also missing from the Bruin’s lineup is Jake DeBrusk, Matt Grzelcyk, Marcus Johansson, Kevan Miller and David Pastrnak. Despite the losses in their lineup, the Bruins have managed to find a way to win against their opponents, racking up 7 wins in the last ten games. You can expect nothing less from this team heading into their match against the Jets tonight.

Bruins Player To Watch
#14 – Chris Wagner – Right Wing
Chris Wagner has been quietly having a career season this year, scoring 12 goals in 67 games. This might not seem like much but the bottom six winger has proven himself an important part of the Bruin’s team, especially with the slew of injuries they’ve faced recently. Wagner joined the team in the off season from free agency, he had previously spending a season with the Islanders, and previously three seasons with Anaheim.
Bruins Last Game
March 12th saw Boston get a beatdown at the hands of a Columbus team that just refuses to give up. It may be the injuries finally piling up, considering the Bruins are now missing half of their top two lines, including their best scorer in David Pastrnak. It could also be their last two games saw teams that have been trying to pull off every trick in the book to stay within the playoff race (they played Pittsburgh previous to that). Nevertheless Boston looked tired and sloppy in a game they couldn’t afford to lose as they struggle to keep Toronto in their rear-view mirror.

- Jets 1.0 Alumni Bob Essensa is the Boston Bruins goaltending coach
- Winnipeg Captain Blake Wheeler played 221 games as a Bruin
Jets Player to Watch
#85 – Mathieu Perreault – Left Wing
Perreault is a player that coach Paul Maurice has commented on as being someone he can slot on any line and see results and so it should come as no surprise that he has made a home for himself on the fourth line with Andrew Copp and Jack Rocslovic. Perreault had a great night on Tuesday against the San Jose Sharks, scoring a third period goal to tie the game and earning an assist from Andrew Copp’s goal in the first period. Perreault scores in streaks and so far he’s managed to put two in the back of the net in as many games, Jets fans can probably expect a few more out of him to extend the streak.
Last Jets Game
On Tuesday, the Jets squared off at home against the San Jose Sharks starting up a three game home-stand. The game started off alright, despite the first goal of the game going to San Jose. It wasn’t until half way through the second period that saw the ice tilt in San Jose’s favor thanks to some critical mistakes from the Jets where everything seemed to unravel. The Jets managed to keep the game tied until they got caught in the deadly combination of a turnover and a classic Myers moment, allowing Joe Pavelski to score with 4 seconds left in the game.

Jets Notebook
- The Jets are expected to have a moment of silence for Winnipeg writer Randy Turner who passed away Wednesday morning. Turner was a beloved figure both in Winnipeg and around the rink.
- Both Kevin Hayes and Nik Ehlers are just a minor penalty away from reaching the 100 penalty minutes milestone
- Mark Scheifele turns 26 on Friday, March 15th
