JNGD.S8.G47 Flight Plan: Battle for Central Supremacy
By KB
5 years agoIt’s a battle of the two top teams in the Central Division as the Jets are taking on the Predators in Nashville tonight. This is their second meeting of the season as they met back on October 11 with Nashville shutting out Winnipeg by a score of 3-0. While Nashville can catch Winnipeg in the standings with a victory, the Jets have played two less games and will even hold the tiebreaker of regulation plus overtime wins. Regardless of the stakes, it’s always a great time when these rivals are playing each other. A really interesting note is that the Jets have now played every single playoff opponent they have ever had, in the span of one week (MIN, ANA, VGK, NSH).

Predators Player To Watch
#33 Viktor Arvidsson – Right Wing
Viktor Arvidsson is putting together a solid season in Nashville despite missing a month and a half with injury before Christmas. After returning to the lineup, he’s been on a great run with nine goals in eleven games. This great play culminated in a hat-trick against the Capitals on Tuesday evening. Last season Arvidsson recorded seven points in five games against the Jets during the regular season and six points in the seven game playoff series. With such a great run recently and good numbers historically against Winnipeg, Arvidsson is the player to watch in Nashville.

Last Predators Game
As mentioned above, the Predators lit up the defending champs with a 7-2 victory over the Capitals. Arvidsson did the heavy lifting as he scored a hat-trick for Nashville. Nobody else had three points as they spread the other goals throughout the rest of the lineup.

Jets Player To Watch
#28 Jack Roslovic – Right Wing
It’s been six games since Ehlers was injured and Roslovic made the jump to the second line alongside Little and Laine. In those six games, Roslovic has only mustered one assist. Although there has been a learning curve playing with some more skilled players, it appears that Roslovic is beginning to figure it out. He was really good against the Golden Knights as he was quick on the puck and able to generate quality chances off the rush. If he can continue utilizing his speed and skill, it won’t be long before he starts to rack up the points on the second line.

Last Jets Game
It was a game that most people circled on their calendar after last year’s crushing defeat in the Western Conference Final. This time it was the Jets who got the victory as they beat the Knights 4-1. They scored two goals off breakaways and two into an empty net in a quirky game against the Golden Knights. Laurent Brossoit was fantastic once again as he stopped 43 of 44 shots.

Jets Notes
- Jets recall Cam Schilling from the Moose. This is the second stint with the big club this season as he made his debut earlier this year when he played four games in November.
- The Jets are closing in on their bye week as they have all of next week off. They play in Nashville tonight and then in Dallas on Saturday before getting a full week off to recuperate before All-Star weekend.
- This is the second game against the Preds this season. They played back in October where the Jets were shut out by a score of 3-0.
