After opening their four game road trip with a win over Vancouver, the Jets get ready for another all-Canadian showdown as they visit the Calgary Flames. It’s going to be a fun game to watch as both teams boast plenty of offensive firepower.

Jets Notebook

  • Patrik Laine recorded his sixth career hat trick against the Canucks on Monday night. This gives him eight goals in his last seven games and moves him into 17th in league scoring, but even more importantly, Laine finally scored at even strength. Somehow he had only scored powerplay and empty net goals during the first 18 games of the year. If he can begin to find his game at 5 on 5, the second line could take off.
  • Speaking of the second line, Kyle Connor set a new career high with four points on Monday night. Connor assisted on all three Patrik Laine goals and the chemistry they are starting to show is fun to watch.
  • The Jets are in the midst of a four game road trip against the Western Conference. They will wrap things up later this week as they play their third back to back of the season in Minnesota and St. Louis.
  • With the TLC line reunited it provides a different point of attack throughout the game. Their big, heavy style is great at wearing down the opposition and eating up zone time. They have gotten to the point that they are so good defensively because they rarely have to defend. Out of any Jets line that has played significant minutes together, they have the lowest CA/60. Allowing fewer shot attempts is always a good thing and this line has excelled at it over the past couple years.

Flames Notebook

  • The Calgary Flames are wrapping up a four game homestand when they host the Jets tonight. They take to the road over the weekend where they play Vegas on Friday and Arizona on Sunday before returning home next week.
  • The Flames’ stars are leading the way offensively as Tkachuk, Monahan, Gaudreau, Lindholm, and Giordano have all eclipsed 20 points so far. In addition, Tkachuk, Monahan, and Lindholm have all scored 11 goals or more. It’s been a great offensive showing from the notable names in Calgary.
  • David Rittich has been sensational for Calgary in the early going. Sporting a 7-1 record, Rittich has clearly out-performed Mike Smith. Rittich, a native of Czech Republic, played two years in the Czech league before coming to North America in 2016-17. Since then he’s bounced between the Stockton Heat and the Flames until he played his way into the crease this year.
