With six out of a possible eight points on the recent four game road trip, the Jets are looking to get back in the win column after falling to Dallas on Thursday night. It’s the first game in Winnipeg since November 12, and it’s the only game in Winnipeg until December 3 as the Jets are currently in a stretch where they play seven out of eight games on the road.

Last Blue Jackets Game

It was a high event game as the Blue Jackets took on the Red Wings Thursday night. The teams swapped goals in the first and second period before Detroit took the lead. Columbus mounted a comeback in the third and scored two quick goals to give them the lead. They held on for the rest of the game and came away with the victory.

Fun Blue Jackets Fact…

Pierre-Luc Dubois was taken one pick after Patrik Laine in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Out of all the players in that class, Dubois sits 5th in goals (56) and 6th in total points (125). For comparison, Laine has scored 116 goals and has 204 points since being drafted. One of the main differences is that Dubois has only played 185 games while Laine has played 258.

What They’re Saying…

I wrote this part before the game against the Red Wings, but it’s still pretty true so slight modifications only.
For the most part, Cam Atkinson has been MIA from the goal scoring sheet for nearly a month now. Of course, he did get that 5-on-3 goal Thursday against the Wings. I’m not listing him as a player to watch because I expect something good to happen, like him scoring a goal. Maybe putting him on notice will wake him up. I’m sure a positive stretch is ahead, but let’s go!

Last Jets Game

The Jets had a terrible second period as they allowed the Stars to score three straight goals and take a big lead in the game. The Jets managed to fight their way back as Connor, Laine, and Sbisa scored to tie the game. With the game knotted up in the third period, the Jets broke down defensively and allowed Jamie Benn to score the game winner as he deked out Hellebuyck and slid it in.

Fun Jets Facts…

  • After scoring against Nashville and Dallas, Patrik Laine has goals in back to back games for the first time this season. Last year he had goals in back to back games eight different times.
  • Of the current Jets roster, Bryan Little has the most career points against the Blue Jackets with 17. Second is Wheeler (15) followed by Perreault (10) and Scheifele (10). The interesting part is that Perreault has the highest points per game as he’s only played eight games to get those ten points.

What We’re Saying…

“…after the game last night I couldn’t help but feel as though that game was a missed opportunity to steal a point or maybe two. Maybe I feel that way because Luca Sbisa scored a goal and really any time a team gets a goal from him it should be a clear indication that it’s “their night” but it wasn’t.”
