JN Flight Plan: Jets 2.0 host Jets 1.0
By KB
4 years agoGet ready for another Jets 1.0 vs 2.0 classic as the Arizona Coyotes visit Bell MTS Place this evening. With so few remnants still existing in Arizona the link isn’t as strong as it used to be, but it’s still the talk of the town when they visit. In terms of on-ice action, the Jets are looking to rebound from their poor effort on Sunday night when they fell to the Penguins 7-2.

Last Coyotes Game
It was a tight game throughout the first two periods before the Avalanche opened the scoring midway through the third period. It was Kadri’s first as an Avalanche player. The goals kept coming as the third period came to a close and the teams were tied after regulation. Colorado scored the game winner in overtime to take the extra point.

Fun Coyotes Fact…
- Only Crosby and Ovechkin have more 25 goal seasons than Phil Kessel since Kessel entered the NHL in 2006.
What They’re Saying…
“Since Rick Tocchet took over as head coach of the Coyotes they have tended to start fairly weak. Last season they were shut out in three of their first four games, and the prior season they didn’t get a win until their twelfth game of the season.”
On the Coyotes’ offense and assistant coach John MacLean – fiveforhowling.com
“With Hjalmarsson likely out for a few weeks or more, the Coyotes have a huge hole to fill on their defense. Hjalmarsson is by far their best defensive defenseman and one of the best in the league. The two players who will likely get some playing time are Ilya Lyubushkin and Kyle Capobianco.”

Fun Jets Facts…
- Paul Maurice is currently sitting at 699 coaching wins for his career, seventh on the all-time list. It would be another major milestone to reach 700. Let’s hope he gets it tonight.
- Patrik Laine is fresh off a great week where he was named the NHL’s second star. He tallied 8 points in 4 games and looked excellent all around the ice.
- The Jets went 2-1 against the Coyotes last year beating them 4-2 and 5-3 but losing 4-1 on February 24.
What We’re Saying…
Hockey’s a funny game. It doesn’t take long to go from a three game winning streak to a 7-2 beatdown at the hands of the Penguins. After two weeks of hockey, nobody knows what to expect from this team on a nightly basis. The unexpected is what makes this season so much fun because any game could go any direction.
