JGD Preseason Game 7: Jets head to Xcel Energy Center for final preseason game

The preseason is almost up, and the real season is about to begin. The Winnipeg Jets travel the extremely far distance all the way to St. Paul, Minnesota… Okay, that’s not that far away….
With being the final game of the preseason, the Jets are sending out a line likely very similar to what we’ll see for the season opener.
The Jets are coming in after a tough loss to the Edmonton Oilers just two days ago, and the team will be looking to head into the regular season with some momentum. The one thing to look into with story lines is that the Jets have been severely out possessed and shot each game this preseason. Hopefully the team can turn it around.

Lineups:

Winnipeg (4-2-0)
Lines
Nikolaj Ehlers – Mark Scheifele – Blake Wheeler
Patrik Laine – Mathieu Perreault – Joel Armia
Kyle Connor- Bryan Little – Alexander Burmistrov
Marko Dano – Adam Lowry – Chris Thorburn
Josh Morrissey – Dustin Byfuglien
Tobias Enstrom – Tyler Myers
Ben Chiarot – Paul Postma
Michael Hutchinson
Ondrej Pavelec
Drew Stafford is still day-to-day, and will likely be taking one of Joel Armia’s or Alex Burmistrov’s spots in the top-nine once he is healthy. Shawn Matthias is also day-to-day and will likely take Marko Dano’s spot once he is healthy as well. Other than that, this looks like the 2016-17 Jet forwards.
On defense is another story. With the Jacob Trouba situation still having a ton of potential outcomes, no one really knows what the defensive groupings will ultimately look like. If the Jets were to get Trouba back or a near equivalent, things would look a lot better. That said, it still is needing a bit of a shot in the arm. Postma over Stuart has potential though.
In what is a bit of a surprise, it looks like the Jets will be sending out Hutchinson to start.
Minnesota (2-3-0)
Lines
Looks like Minnesota is also close to their full complement for the regular season. There may be some adjustments on the fourth line, but that’s about it.

Predictions:

Game Prediction: Jets win…
Obvious Prediction: …but they continue to be outshot.
Not So Obvious Prediction: Paul Postma will look good in the grand scheme, but have a huge hiccup that ends up with a goal against, and is relegated to the pressbox forever…. okay maybe that is obvious too.
