Jets select Leon Gawanke 136th overall

6 years agoWith the 136th overall selection in the 2017 NHL Draft, the Jets select Defenseman Leon Gawanke from Cape Breton of the QMJHL.
Gawanke, 18, is a native of Berlin, Germany and is a right shot defenseman. The 6’1″, 186lb d-man had 32 points (8 goals, 24 assists) with Cape Breton in 54 games this season, and also played 4 games for Germany in Divison 1 of the World Junior Hockey Championships. He was ranked 200th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
