Jets Prospect Update – October 25th, 2016

Another week is in the bank for Jets prospects. Some continued their hot starts, while others slowed down. Let’s take a look at how they performed this week in the prospect update.

Jansen Harkins continues to rack up assists, bringing his totals to a goal and 9 assists in 8 games played. Harkins is currently on a 5-game point streak (1 goal, 4 assists). On October 20th, Harkins was named to Team WHL for the Canada Russia series. The two games will be played November 7th in Prince George and November 8th in Edmonton.

Jordy Stallard recorded an assist on a goal by Canucks prospect Jakob Stukel Friday night. Unfortunately, the Hitmen fell to the Rebels 4-1.

Michael Spacek continues his outstanding start to the season, extending his point streak to 8 games with a pair of goals and an assist this week. His goal on the 22nd came on a breakaway as he left the penalty box.

Logan Stanley came close to scoring his first goal of the season, but the shot would hit the post and was jammed in on the rebound. Today, it was announced that Stanley will join Team OHL for the Canada Russia series. Games will be played November 10th in North Bay and November 14th in Hamilton.

Luke Green recorded an assist in 3 games played, but was on the receiving end of a -5 night against the Huskies on the 22nd. Green was on the ice for all 5 Huskies goals en route to a 5-1 loss.

Mikhail Berdin earned his first win of the season over the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday. Berdin stopped a fantastic 35 of 37 shots and improves his season stats to 3.86 GAA and 0.895 SV%.

Matt Ustaski and the Badgers did not play this week. An exhibition game against the USNTDP U18 squad was played Friday; Ustaski did not record a point.

C.J. Franklin did not record a point this weekend against Alaska. In the second game, C.J. was assessed a game misconduct for contact to the head just over 5 minutes into the 2nd period.

Tucker Poolman continues his strong play in his third season with the University of North Dakota. Poolman recorded 3 assists over the weekend, including the below play where he keeps the puck alive at the line twice before dishing to Brock Boeser.

Jack Glover played his first non-exhibition game following his double shoulder surgery in the summer. He did not factor into the scoring, but did have one shot on net. Glover played on the third pairing on his off-side with fellow righty (and rookie) Ryan Lindgren.

Erik Foley added to his solid start with another goal and assist this weekend against St. Lawrence. Foley tipped a point shot in on the powerplay and set up Anthony Florentino later in the game for a goal from the point.

Mason Appleton also scored once and added an assist this weekend, factoring into Michigan State’s only two goals. They would drop both games against Denver. Check out his impressive wrist shot from the top of the circle in Saturday’s game.

Pavel Kraskovsky recorded a goal and an assist this week. His goal came in an 8-1 drubbing of Barys Astana on the 22nd. A highlight of the goal can be found here. Kraskovsky tips in a point shot on the powerplay to put Lokomotiv up 7-1.

Sami Niku had a quiet week, but continues to average close to 20 minutes per game on the top pairing with veteran Juha Uotila. JYP play two more games this weekend and then are off until November 10th.

Jacob Cederholm got into an SHL game on the 18th as the 7th defenceman. He would play just over 11 minutes and end up a +1. He also recorded an assist in two games with IK Pantern. His point shot took a funny bounce off teammate Lars Bryggman and ended up in the net. 

Nic Petan put up a goal in back-to-back games against Bakersfield and Toronto.

Jack Roslovic continues to thrive at the AHL level. Roslovic currently holds the Moose team lead in points through six games. Roslovic’s goal and assist from October 20th against Bakersfield can be seen below.

Scott Kosmachuk scored his first points of the year this week. His first goal on a fantastic feed from Marko Dano on the powerplay, and his second from the slot in the next game.

The Manitoba Moose will look to recover from two straight losses to the Toronto Marlies, including a shutout loss on Sunday where they were outshot 34 to 22.

Jamie Phillips continues to win. Despite the save percentage numbers, the Oilers have helped out their goaltender. Phillips played three games in three days (October 21st, 22nd, 23rd); recording a regulation win, a shootout win, and an overtime win respectively.
