Jets Nation Recap: Jets And Overtime In A Bad Relationship

Game Notes:

• The Blake Wheeler/Mark Scheifele/Nikolaj Ehlers line was once again the best line for the Jets tonight. The line was involved in three out of the four Jet goals with Wheeler scoring twice while Scheifele added two assists. This will be the top line going into training camp in the fall.
• For the second straight game, Dustin Byfuglien steamrolled another opposing player. This time, the victim was Tomas Fleischmann. It wasn’t as devastating a hit as Buff delivered to Mark Stone on Wednesday but it does remind teams that when Buff is on the ice, you have to be aware.
• Patrick Kane added a goal and an assist to his league leading point total. With 96 points to his name, Kane will most likely win the Art Ross Trophy and be the only player to top 100 points. 
• It was not a banner night for Ondrej Pavelec. Granted he didn’t get too much help from his defence, (we’re looking at you, Mark Stuart) but Pavs stopped 22 out of 27 shots for an .815 save percentage. That’s rather hideous.
• One of the most underrated Blackhawks is Artemi Panarin. The 24-year-old Russian scored twice and added two assists and created havoc all night in the Jets end. While Kane and Jonathan Toews garner most of the headlines, teams win Stanley Cups on secondary scoring and the Hawks will rely on Panarin for scoring depth come playoff time.
• Before the game, it was announced that Duncan Keith will be suspended for six games for his slash on Charlie Coyle of the Minnesota Wild. Keith will miss the rest of the regular season and the first game of the playoffs. Chicago are fortunate that Keith won’t be gone any longer.
• Nice to see Nic Petan notch his second goal of the season and his first Jets goal at MTS Centre. Petan has been very good since being called up and he will push for a job next season.
