Jets Nation Prospect Profile 2015: #9 Eric Comrie

The 6’1 goaltender Eric Comrie was drafted late in the second round by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Comrie has a tonne of upside, with the potential of becoming an above league average starter, which is why he ranks so highly in the Jets Nations Top 20 Prospects.
We continue our summer prospect profile series, checking in at #9.
Comrie’s 2013-14 season was cut short due injury which required surgery. Hip injuries can be scary for goaltenders, especially since Comrie’s older brother had his career cut short with similar issues.
This caused concern on his longterm health, and Comrie fell to the 4th goaltender drafted that season behind Zach Fucale, Tristan Jarry, and Philippe Desrosiers.
Comrie came back stronger then ever, posting a 0.925 save percentage in his 18-year-old season and was in contention for Team Canada. He ended up being cut, in what was a fairly controversial goaltender decision.
Our friend of the blog, Greg Balloch at InGoal Magazine ranked Comrie as the 4th best NHL goaltender prospect.

He possesses high-end skill, but he likes to keep the aggressive movements in his back pocket. It’s easy to tell when Comrie is really on. Rebounds are swallowed, the game slows down, and his opponents become more and more frustrated. With the duo of Connor Hellebuyck and Eric Comrie in the system, the Jets will be a scary team to watch.
Comrie graduated from junior and will begin his pro-career in the fall, either as the backup for Connor Hellebuyck for the Manitoba Moose or as the starter for the Tulsa Oilers.
Both options have their pros and cons. Hellebuyck has proved last season he could handle large workload levels so the ECHL offers more playing time. However, the Jets are only affiliated with the Oilers and do not own them, so there is a loss element of control.
