Jets Nation Prospect Profile 2015: #7 Jack Roslovic

The 6’1, 182 lbs centre / right winger Jack Roslovic is the second piece in our top 20 list the Winnipeg Jets received from the Evander Kane and Zach Bogosian trade.

We continue our summer prospect profile series, checking in at #7.

Here is Roslovic’s Player Cohort Success over the since his pre-draft eligible season:

PCS% is the percentage of similar players in height, league, scoring, and age that made the NHL, while PCS points per game is the production typical of those that did make it.

Roslovic was selected to join the US National Team Development Program after a strong season for the Ohio Blue Jackets U16 team.

The USNDTP U17 team won gold at the 2014 World Hockey Challenge, where Roslovic picked up six points in six games. Roslovic picked up 32 points for the U17 team as well as 14 points in games against USHL teams.

The next year Roslovic played for the U18 team, where he was the fourth-leading scorer with 79 points in 67 games, as well as 38 points in 25 games when playing against USHL teams. Roslovic had a slow start to the season but picked up the pace when placed on a line with the USDP top two scorers, Auston Matthews and Matthew Tkachuk.

Roslovic’s once again won gold, this time with 11 points in 7 games the 2015 U18 World Juniors.

Roslovic is an incredibly smart forward, who is an excellent playmaker and a decent shooter.

There are some concerns though that Roslovic’s high end scoring was in part propelled due to opportunity with Matthews and not as talent driven.

Roslovic has committed to the Miami University of Ohio, where Roslovic will move from the role of supporter to leader. Roslovic will be leaned on heavily to carry Miami’s scoring and will be the ultimate test on how much of Roslovic’s scoring was carried by Matthews.

It will also be interesting to see whether Roslovic develops as a winger or centre in the NCAA. Extra centre depth can never be a bad thing.
