The Winnipeg Jets have a stronger recent performance in the front end of back-to-back games than their opponent, whose winning ways at home might also be negated by a losing skid. The Jets are the +120 underdog on the opening NHL odds for Friday while the San Jose Sharks are a -140 favourite with a 6.0-goal total at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Jets, who will visit the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday, are 9-6 in their last 15 games when they are playing the next day. The Sharks, who host the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, are 6-9 in their last 15 games when they are playing the next day, but are also 10-4 in their last 14 home games as a favourite of -130 to -160 on the moneyline. The total finished OVER in 10 of those contests.

Jets at Sharks | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Jets are 6-7-0 this season and have struggled to deliver value as a narrow underdog away from home, sporting a 5-13-0 record in their last 18 away games as an underdog of 100 to +130 on the moneyline at online betting sites. The total finished UNDER in 12 of those 18 games.
Led by center Mark Scheifele and left wing Nikolaj Ehlers, the Jets are 10th in the NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (51.27 percent), but they are 25th in goal scoring (2.62 per game) and 21st in goals against (3.38). Special teams have been an issue as illustrated by a 23rd-ranked power play (15.6 percent) and a penalty-killing unit that is 31st and last (65.4).
Connor Hellebuyck, who is 5-5-0 with a 2.53 goals-against average and .924 save percentage, will start in goal.
The Sharks are 4-8-1 as they begin a homestand following a road trip where they earned only three of 10 possible points and came home with a three-game losing streak. Having No. 1 center Logan Couture in a 10-game goalless drought exemplifies the Sharks’ woes at even strength, as they are 24th in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (48.29). That has played a role in San Jose being 27th in goal scoring (2.46 per game) and 29th in goals against (3.69). Special teams are something of a saving grace for the Sharks, whose  power play is ranked ninth (24.4 percent) while their penalty killing unit is ranked first (90.4).
Martin Jones, who is 2-6-1 with a 3.57 goals-against average and .890 save percentage, will likely start in goal for the Sharks.
Following Saturday’s game at Vegas, the Jets return home to host the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.
