The Winnipeg Jets have the upper hand in the head-to-head history against the Edmonton Oilers, who could be without Connor McDavid in this all-Canadian matchup. The Jets are the +130 away underdog while the Edmonton Oilers are the -150 home favorite with a 6.0-goal total on the NHL odds for Wednesday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Jets are 6-2 over their last eight games against the Oilers and also have a 12-6 record in their last 18 road games against the Pacific Division. The Oilers are 5-2 at home against the Central Division this season, but are just 10-10 over their last 20 games as a home favorite.

Jets at Oilers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Jets, who are 36-28-6, are just percentage points out of a wild-card playoff position as they begin a three-game swing through western Canada. They are 3-7 as a road underdog at betting sites since January 1 but only one defeat was by more than two goals.
Winnipeg, which is 21st out of 31 NHL teams in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (48.6 percent), also had good offensive balance the last time out in a 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday as the Cody Eakin-Nikolaj Ehlers-Patrik Laine line combined for four points to complement the work of the Mark Scheifele-Kyle Connor-Blake Wheeler trio. Winnipeg is 17th in goals scoring (2.99 per game) and 12th in goals against (2.84). The Jets’ power play is ranked 15th (20.5 percent) and the penalty killing unit ranks 23rd (77.5).
Connor Hellebuyck, who has a 30-21-5 record with a 2.58 goals-against average and .922 save percentage, is a major reason why the Jets have allowed only six goals over their last five games.
The Oilers, who are 37-24-9, missed a chance to take the Pacific Division lead during a 3-2 home defeat against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday when McDavid (illness) was unable to play. McDavid, the NHL’s second-leading scorer after teammate Leon Draisaitl, will be a game-day decision for an Oilers squad whose lack of offensive depth is betrayed by a 27th-place ranking in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (47.8 percent). Edmonton is 13th in goal scoring (3.16 per game) and 15th in goals against (3.01). The poor shot metrics are covered up by great special teams, as the Oilers boast the NHL’s top power play (29.6 per cent) and second-ranked penalty killing unit (84.4).
Mikko Koskinen had a 48-shot workload on Monday, which is one more reason why the Oilers will likely turn to veteran goalie Mike Smith for the start. Smith has a 19-11-6 record with a 2.94 goals-against average and .903 save percentage, but has just a 3.28/.890 stat-line in his last five games.
Winnipeg’s western Canada road trip also includes back-to-back games against the Calgary Flames on Saturday and the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.
