The Jets, who also visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday in their final game before the all-star break, are 11-5 over their last 16 games when they are also playing the next day. But they are 5-10 in their last 15 games as an away underdog of +150 to +180 on the moneyline at betting sites.

The Hurricanes are 15-5 in their last 20 games as a -160 to -200 home favourite with the total finishing UNDER 13 times, and are also 6-2 in their last eight home games against the Western Conference with the total finishing UNDER seven times. The total has also gone UNDER in 11 of the last 16 games in this matchup.
The Jets are 25-20-4 and have lost four of their last five games, which triggered a players-only meeting after their 5-2 defeat against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. The Jets, who struggle to generate great quantities of shots, have shaken up their lines with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler getting new wingers in an effort to get more from an attack that ranks 25th in the 31-team NHL in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (48.0 percent). Carolina’s speed and talent, personified by the likes of left wing Andrei Svechnikov and right wing Teuvo Teravainen, is a driving force in Carolina leading the league in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage (54.8 percent). Carolina, though, is 13th in goals scored (3.10 per game) and seventh in goals against (2.67). The Hurricanes have the ninth-ranked power play (21.3 percent) and fourth-ranked penalty killing unit (83.1).
Petr Mrazek might well be in line for the goaltending start after James Reimer played in the Hurricanes’ past two games. Mrazek has a 17-12-2 record this season with a 2.64 goals-against average and .904 save percentage, but Carolina is just 1-4 in his last five starts.
Following the all-star break, the Jets resume action with a three-game homestand that starts against the Boston Bruins on January 31.
