Jacob Trouba saved from a call from NHL player safety

The NHL’s department of player safety won’t be giving Jacob Trouba a phone call after the Winnipeg Jets defenceman threw what looked like an illegal check to the head of Blues forward Troy Brouwer on Sunday night.
It was reported by Winnipeg Sun’s Ken Wiebe that Trouba will not be contacted by the league for delivering the hit, which went unnoticed by referees Dan O’Rourke and Tom Kowal.
Following the game, Trouba told reporters he did not see the replay of the check and couldn’t give an honest opinion.
From the Winnipeg Sun:
“I haven’t really watched (the replay) yet, so I can’t tell you 100 per cent,” said Trouba. “But I was kind of caught going between the puck and the man. It was kind of a mad scramble in front. Like I said, I’ve got to watch it first.”
Former NHL tough guy and Blues radio colour anaylst Kelly Chase was critical of Trouba’s third-period check and took to Twitter to share his thoughts.
Losing Trouba for any extended period of time would have been a big blow for the Jets’ blue-line. The sophomore defenceman has been a workhorse so far this season and has a plus-5 rating through six games.
Perhaps because the play went unpenalized, a lack of history, and that Brouwer was able to finish the game, the league gave Trouba a free pass — much like it did last week when Alex Burmistrov threw a questionable hit on Boston star Patrice Bergeron.
