The Winnipeg Jets head into the great outdoors in search of their missing offence, while facing a Prairie rival who has generally come out ahead against them in recent seasons.
The Jets are +105 underdogs while the Calgary Flames are -125 favourites with a 6.0-goal total on the NHL odds for Saturday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. While home and away trends are irrelevant in a neutral-site game at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan, it seems worth noting that the Jets are 6-9 against the Flames over the last five-plus seasons with the total finishing UNDER in 10 of the 15 games.
The total has finished UNDER in 10 of the Jets’ last 14 regular-season games as an underdog of 100 to +120 on the moneyline.

Flames at Jets | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Flames, who are 6-5-1 so far this season, have been involved in a pair of high-scoring games already this week that had a combined 19 goals. With a balanced offence led by centers Sean Monahan and Mikael Backland, the Flames are seventh in the NHL in shot attempt percentage at 5-on-5 (52.82 percent), which can be a positive indicator about future production.
So far, Calgary is 21st in goals scored (2.75 per game) and 14th in goals against (3.08). The Flames power play ranks 18th (17.9 percent) while the penalty killing ranks fourth (88.9).
David Rittich, who is 5-3-1 with a 3.06 goals-against average and .901 save percentage, is expected to start in goal for Calgary.
The Jets are 5-6-0 and have had the total finish UNDER at betting sites in their last three games, with No. 1 center Mark Scheifele perhaps not coincidentally going without a point in all three. Compared to Calgary, the Jets have been carrying less of the play at five-on-five but are still slightly above average in shot attempt percentage, ranking 13th in the NHL at 50.23 per cent.
Winnipeg is 24th in goals scored (2.55 per game) and 21st in goals against (3.27). And while sample sizes are still small this early in the season, Winnipeg’s power play ranks 23rd (15.8 percent) and the penalty killing is last in 31st place (63.6).
Connor Hellebuyck, who is 4-4-0 with a 2.38 goals-against average and .929 save percentage, is expected to start in goal for Winnipeg.
The Jets have two days off before beginning a three-game West Coast road trip against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
