At the post practice presser this morning, Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice shared an update that forward Nikolaj Ehlers would be out with an upper-body injury and would not return until mid February.
Nikolaj Ehlers collided with Pittsburgh Penguin Sidney Crosby during the first period of last night’s game, and immediately left the ice. An attempt was made to return to the ice later, but was quickly abandoned. An esitamed time line of being out until mid-February would mean Ehlers could miss anywhere from the next 14 to 15 games.
At practice on Saturday morning, we saw Roslovic slot in with Laine and Little, with Appleton and Petan taking turns on the 4th line. The Jets will be challenged with another long term injury to a key player in the lineup but it’s also a chance for a player like a Petan or Appleton to step up and earn a spot on the main roster.
As for Ehlers, after a slow start to his season he had started to pick up his production and had 15 goals and 27 points in 40 games played.
