Let’s try this again, shall we?
The Jets will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs for the second time this week, this time in Toronto and we are all hoping for a much better effort for a larger part of the game than what we saw on Wednesday night when the Jets arguably only played 20 minutes of a 60 minute game in a 4-2 loss to the Leafs in Winnipeg.

Jets Notebook

  • Tonight is the first back-to-back of the season for the Jets, they have 10 in total. Last year, the Jets were 4-4-1 last year in the second game of back-to-back sets.
  • Winnipeg has scored 18 times in the third period so far this season which is the most of any team in the league. They are middle of the pack when it comes to goals scored in the first period (eight) and almost dead last in goals scored in the second period (six). In each of the first two periods, the Jets only have a -1 one goal differential.
  • Blake Wheeler’s point streak is up to five games now while Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor have earned points in each of the last four games they’ve played.
  • Now that Byfuglien has hit the 500 point mark, the next biggest milestone coming up is 300 career points for Mark Scheifele. He is two away from that accomplishment.

Maple Leafs Notebook

  • After a brief two game blip, the Leafs got back to their scoring ways with four in Winnipeg on Wednesday. They are second in the league in goals for with 38 and are third in the NHL in goals-for per game with 3.80.
  • Frederik Andersen is 7-0-1 in nine career games against Winnipeg with a .907 save percentage.
  • Mitch Marner has a two game point streak for the Leafs with assists in each of the last two. It was his nifty move and pass to John Tavares midway through the third period which put the Leafs back up by two goals and was a bit of a backbreaker for the Leafs.
  • William Nylander still isn’t signed to a contract and will miss tonight’s game.
