The Winnipeg Jets have signed wingers Tanner Pearson and Cole Koepke to identical one-year, $1 million contracts, per Darren Dreger. Neither deal includes any reported signing bonuses or clauses.
1 year, $1 mil for Cole Koepke in Winnipeg.
Pearson entered the offseason as an unrestricted free agent following the conclusion of a one-year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights that carried a league-minimum cap hit of $775,000. The Jets are giving him a small raise, but the contract still comes in at a very manageable number. Pearson, 31, is coming off a bounce-back campaign with Vegas, scoring 12 goals and adding 15 assists for 27 points in 78 games. While that’s short of his peak production during his prime 40-point seasons, it’s still his highest point total since registering 34 with the Vancouver Canucks in 2021–22. Pearson brings a reliable veteran presence and can slot in anywhere in the middle six.
Koepke, meanwhile, was classified as a Group Six UFA after his one-year, $775,000 contract with the Boston Bruins expired. Like Pearson, he gets a small bump in salary, but again, nothing that puts any pressure on the team’s cap situation. The 26-year-old just completed his first full NHL season, posting 10 goals and 7 assists for 17 points in 73 games with the Bruins. Before that, his most NHL experience came in 2022–23, when he played 17 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
It’s been a relatively quiet offseason for the Jets so far. Aside from the Pearson and Koepke deals, their only other notable move has been signing hometown veteran Jonathan Toews to a one-year, $2 million contract. Winnipeg still has roughly $21.5 million in cap space remaining, but with eight restricted free agents — including Gabriel Vilardi and Dylan Samberg — yet to be signed, the bulk of their offseason work is still ahead of them.
