The Winnipeg Jets announced today that they have signed forward Mason Shaw to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 in the NHL.
Shaw, 26, spent the 2024–25 season with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, where he emerged as a key contributor. The Lloydminster, Alberta native led the team in scoring with 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists) over 72 games. His 17 goals ranked second on the Moose, as did his 114 penalty minutes—highlighting his ability to impact the game both offensively and physically. Shaw’s strong two-way play and leadership qualities earned him the FloForm Countertops Most Valuable Player Award.
Originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round (97th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Shaw brings valuable experience to the Jets organization. He has appeared in 82 NHL games, all with the Wild, registering 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists) and 118 penalty minutes. Known for his willingness to play a physical game, Shaw has proven he can contribute in various roles at the AHL level.
In the AHL , Shaw has been a reliable presence over the course of 269 career games split between the Iowa Wild and Manitoba Moose. In that time, he has accumulated 158 points (60 goals, 98 assists) and 327 penalty minutes. He also boasts playoff experience, having recorded 13 points (9 goals, 4 assists) and 18 penalty minutes in 12 Calder Cup Playoff games with Iowa.
With this signing, the Jets add a gritty, two-way forward who offers both leadership and offensive upside. Shaw will begin the season with the Moose but could be a strong candidate for call-ups throughout the year, especially if lots of injuries arise. His work ethic and experience make him a valuable depth option for Winnipeg heading into the 2025–26 season.
