Winnipeg Jets sign Jack Roslovic to ELC

The Winnipeg Jets have signed 2014 first round selection Jack Roslovic to an Entry Level Contract with an average NHL salary and performance bonus value of $1,137,500. Roslovic played for the University Miami in Ohio last year, but is no longer NCAA eligible as a professional contracted player.
Not being able to return to the NCAA, this leaves three destination possibilities for the 2016-17 season. Roslovic could make the Winnipeg Jets out of training camp, however unlikely that may be. Being drafted from a team outside of the three CHL leagues, Roslovic is not restricted by the CHL-NHL agreement and could play for the Manitoba Moose in the AHL next season.
The most likely place though is in the CHL. In June, we at Jets Nation reported that sources disclosed that Roslovic would be leaving the NCAA and defecting to the OHL likely due to wanting more icetime and responsibilities.
The London Knights now own Roslovic’s OHL rights, which would mean Roslovic would be reunited with former linemate Matthew Tkachuk, provided Tkachuk does not make his NHL team in the fall and does not play for the Moose. The Knights offer the Jets the best development opportunity, as he would likely be playing top-line centre for a powerhouse team.
Roslovic put up 26 points in 36 games in the NCAA, tying for team lead in both points and points per game. The centre-winger’s 0.72 point per game pace was the twenty-third highest in the NCAA for freshmen and tenth highest for drafted freshmen.
