The 2025-26 NHL season is officially entering its second final month of the regular season. Even with approximately 20-25 games left for every team, the league standings remain relatively super close in the middle as the playoff race heats up. Per Money Puck, the Jets have a 6.9% chance at making the playoffs as they sit in 27th overall. The Jets are in the same spot that they were at the end of January, and with the trade deadline coming up in less than a week, it’s time for the Jets to start thinking about how they want to shape up their roster for next season.
After a minimal February schedule due to the three week break for the Olympics, the schedule gets super busy in March, including for the Jets. After returning from the break with an overtime win and an overtime loss, the Jets are getting ready to play 16 games in the month of March, with 10 of those games set to take place at Canada Life Centre. Here’s a look ahead at where the Jets will be in action for March 2026.
Sunday afternoon (March 1st) the Jets conclude their three game road trip in San Jose against the Sharks. After this game, the Jets will have their longest home stand of the season, hosting eight straight games at Canada Life Centre. Looking at the Jets opponents during these eight games, they will be playing only three teams currently in a playoff spot. What’s also very noteworthy about these eight games is that they will be playing 4 of the 5 teams below them in the NHL league standings. The Jets roster could look a little different after the trade deadline, but these could very well be some winnable hockey games.
After the eight straight games at home, the Jets go back on the road for another three game road trip, with stops in Boston, Pittsburgh, and New York. After the only back to back of the month, the Jets return home to host the Vegas Golden Knights followed by the 1st place Colorado Avalanche. The busy month of March ends with a trip to Colorado followed by two nights off before a game on March 31st in Chicago.
Skimming over the strength of opponents in this March schedule, the Jets should be able to get around 8 wins in March. With lots of movement in the middle of the league standings on a nightly basis, it will be tough for the Jets to get anywhere near the playoff conversation unless they can string together a massive win streak in March.
Because of how close the standings remain in the middle, there won’t be many teams eliminated officially from playoff contention in March. This means that teams like the Jets will be doing whatever they can to compete and play the way they want to coming up, while also looking ahead to an important next season as they hope to return to a team like their franchise best 2024-25 regular season.
