The Winnipeg Jets have announced the name and logo of their new AHL affiliate as the Manitoba Moose.
The design is the same as the older AHL franchise that played out of the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, but with an updated colour scheme matching the current Winnipeg Jets palette.
There were a few other announcements as well on the new team. Click past the “read more” jump for further details.
The Moose will feature mostly the same coaching staff as last season’s St. John’s IceCaps, Keith McCambridge and Mark Morrison will stay the head and assistant coaches. Jason King though will stay in St. John’s to join Montreal’s AHL version of the Icecaps.
Brad Andrews, who was the Director of Hockey Operations in St. John’s, will also be crossing over to the Manitoban AHL team.
True North Sports Entertainment also announced ticket prices which will go on sale to the public May 8th:
For all other details, the team’s original website moosehockey.com is being re-launched.
The return of the AHL to Winnipeg offers an affordable alternative to residents for watching professional level hockey.
It also gives an additional source of consumption for the fanatical Jets crazed individual. The Jets organization looks to be graduating multiple prospects to pro.
Big names like Josh Morrissey, Nic Petan, Jan Kostalek, Eric Comrie, Andrew Copp, Jimmy Lodge, and Axel Blomqvist will all be joining the likes of Joel Armia, JC Lipon, Scott Kosmachuk, Connor Hellebuyck, and Brenden Kichton.
While one or two of these players may make the NHL squad, most will find themselves playing to a much smaller crowd in Winnipeg.
