For the first time, the Winnipeg Jets will participate in the Prospect Showdown, an event hosted by the Montreal Canadiens where young players get the chance to showcase their skills over a weekend of games.
This year’s tournament will feature four teams: the Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and the Jets. Both Ottawa and Winnipeg join the event for the first time, with games set for September 13 and 14 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Thursday, September 4, the Jets announced the roster for the tournament:
Forwards (12):
  • Brayden Yager
  • Kevin He
  • Colby Barlow
  • Danny Zhilkin
  • Fabian Wagner
  • Jacob Julien
  • Owen Martin
  • Kieron Walton
  • Jacob Cloutier
  • Reggie Newman*
  • Chase Yoder*
  • Nikita Chibrikov
Defencemen (8):
  • Kaleb Hartmann*
  • Elias Salomonsson
  • Edison Engle
  • Graham Sward*
  • Ben Zloty*
  • Seth Fryer*
  • Reese Hamilton*
  • Conor Walton*
Goaltenders (2):
  • Alex Worthington
  • Domenic DiVincentiis
(* Free agent invite)
The group will practice at hockey for all centre on Wednesday, September 10 (12:00 p.m. CT) and Thursday, September 11 (10:30 a.m. CT) before heading to Montreal.
Among those suiting up are 2023 first-round picks Colby Barlow and Brayden Yager, as well as three members of the Jets’ 2025 draft class: Owen Martin (third round), Edison Engle (sixth round), and Jacob Cloutier (seventh round).
One notable absence from the roster is forward Brad Lambert. The 21-year-old suffered a sprained ankle with the Moose in mid-April, and while he’s been skating this summer, it appears the Jets aren’t rushing him back for the tournament.
Fans can stream the Jets’ Prospect Showdown games live on winnipegjets.com. Manitoba Moose play-by-play announcer Daniel Fink will have the call with colour commentary by Jamie Thomas.
Schedule:
  • Game 1: September 13, 12:00 p.m. CT — Ottawa vs. Toronto
  • Game 2: September 13, 6:00 p.m. CT — Winnipeg vs. Montreal
  • Game 3: September 14, 2:00 p.m. CT — Toronto vs. Montreal
  • Game 4: September 14, 6:00 p.m. CT — Winnipeg vs. Ottawa
