This week in 1989 (Sept. 28), the Winnipeg Jets traded Eldon “Pokey” Reddick to the Edmonton Oilers.

Reddick had joined the Jets in 1986 signing as a free agent. The year prior to joining the Jets, he had been playing for the IHL’s Fort Wayne Komets. In 117 games with the Jets, Reddick posted a 41-51-14 record with a .872 save percentage.

He only played in 13 games over two seasons for the Oilers, and played the following years in the IHL. Reddick holds an NHL record for the most games played by a goaltender without recording a shutout.

On top of that, Reddick is the only goaltender at any professional level of hockey to go through a three-round playoff series undefeated. It was during the 1992-93 IHL season where he helped lead the Komets through 12 postseason games posting a 1.49 GAA leading the organization to its first league title in 20 years.
