The Winnipeg Jets opened up a three-game homestand Tuesday night at Canada Life Centre, hoping to build off their 4-3 shootout victory in Calgary, and they did just that, taking down the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-2 for their second straight win. Adam Lowry, Josh Morrissey, Neal Pionk, Kyle Connor, and Logan Stanley all etched their names onto the scoresheet for Winnipeg, while Eric Comrie stopped 20 shots in the victory.

Lowry and Pionk get their firsts

Jets captain Adam Lowry and defenceman Neal Pionk came into Tuesday’s contest still searching for their first goals of the season.
Lowry opened the scoring in the first period when Nino Niederreiter fed him a nice pass into the slot, and he buried it past the blocker of Elvis Merzlikins.
Pionk found the back of the net on the power play to make it 3-1 in the second period. Gustav Nyquist set him up for a one-timer, and he blasted an 85.4 MPH shot past Merzlikins.

Scheifele plays most games in franchise history

Mark Scheifele played in the 898th game of his NHL career Tuesday, pushing him past former captain Blake Wheeler and into first place on the franchise’s all-time games-played list.
The Jets’ star centre finished the night with three assists, giving him 27 points through 19 games this season.

Comrie comes up huge

Comrie didn’t face much rubber, but he came up big when needed, including a lights-out save on Kent Johnson in the third period.
Winnipeg will get some rest before they take on the Carolina Hurricanes and Nikolaj Ehlers on Friday night. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. CST on TSN3.
