The Winnipeg Jets wrapped up their season-long six-game road trip on Saturday night, edging the Calgary Flames 4-3 in a shootout at Scotiabank Saddledome. Despite the win, the trip as a whole was anything but pretty for Winnipeg, who finished with a 2-4-0 record.
Jets finally head home
This road trip was a major struggle for the Jets, they opened with an 0-3-0 California swing, getting outscored 9-2 in the process. A 5-3 win in Vancouver briefly reignited their offence, but the momentum didn’t last as they fell 5-3 in Seattle two nights later.
Saturday’s matchup against the league-worst Flames wasn’t exactly convincing either. Winnipeg nearly let the game slip away late but managed to escape with two points thanks to a shootout winner from Gabriel Vilardi. Still, there wasn’t a ton to like from the six-game stretch overall.
The Jets now finally return home for three straight at Canada Life Centre, a much-needed chance to reset and get back to playing their style of hockey.
Perfetti scores first of the season
Cole Perfetti entered Saturday’s game still searching for his first goal of the season after making his debut in Anaheim earlier on the trip. He didn’t need to wait any longer.
Early in the third period, with the Jets on the power play, Kyle Connor hammered a one-timer off Dustin Wolf. The shot hit the post and left a loose puck in the crease, where Perfetti buried it for his first of the campaign.

Morrissey keeps on rolling
Josh Morrissey, who’s firmly established himself as an early-season Norris Trophy candidate, kept his offensive surge rolling in his hometown of Calgary on Saturday night. He picked up two assists and now has 17 points in his last 11 games, including five multi-point performances, per NHL Stats.
Winnipeg is back in action Tuesday night at Canada Life Centre as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets for the first time this season. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. CST on TSN3.
