The Winnipeg Jets continued their mini two game road trip game last night in Philadelphia. After their first road win of the season on Monday in New York, the Jets were looking to improve their win streak to three. The Flyers have had an average start to season, improving to 1-1-1 on the season with their first win on Monday against the Florida Panthers.
Building off a strong team performance on Monday, the Jets stuck with mostly the same lineup as they used on Monday, with the exception of Connor Hellebuyck in net. Cole Koepke and Haydn Fleury were banged up during the Jets 3rd game and were questionable for last night’s game, but they both ended up in the starting lineup. Last night’s game started out as an evenly contested battle, but the Jets pulled away in the 2nd period, eventually winning this game by a score of 5 to 2. Now 4 games into the season, who are the Jets players that have impressed and stood out the most?
The 1st Line
Connor. Scheifele. Vilardi. Some people thought it would be difficult for this trio to replicate their success from last season, but they’re proving them wrong early this season. Averaging around 19 minutes a night, the three forwards have combined for a total of 19 points. Mark Scheifele leads the Jets with 5 goals, while Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi are tied for the lead in assists with 4. The only thing missing from the 1st line so far this season is a goal from Vilardi. Despite sitting 4th on the team in shots on goal with 9, Vilardi has yet to find the back of the net. It’s only a matter of time before he gets his 1st of the season, as this line continues to dominate every game so far.
Morgan Barron
The Jets 4th line centre is off to a terrific start to the season even while only averaging 12 minutes of ice time a game. Barron has 3 goals (on only 5 shots) and 2 assists for 5 points. Even before the season began, Jets fans were hoping to see big improvements from Barron, and so far they’re seeing just that. Barron’s career high in points is 21, and last season he had 15 points while mostly playing on the 4th line. While it may be difficult to move Barron up in the line due to the current line combinations, he’s showing all the right reasons, both offensively and defensively, to be given more opportunities every night.
Tanner Pearson
Although the Jets 1st line has been lighting up the scoresheet, the Jets depth signings are proving their worth too. Pearson leads all Jets players (among new additions) with 2 goals and 1 assist in his 4 games played. You need to remember that this 4th line is only averaging 11-12 minutes a game, but players like Pearson are making the most of every chance they get. Depth scoring goes a long way for teams having success later into the season, so it’s great to see the Jets getting contributions throughout their lineup.
Up Next
The Jets return to Canada Life Centre on Saturday night, when they’ll take on the Nashville Predators. With the exception of a game in Calgary on Monday, the Jets will be at home for 4 of their next 5 games, giving them a good chance to continue their early season momentum in front of their fans. Puck drop on Saturday will be at 6:00 pm CT, and make sure to check back here pre and post game for articles on every Jets game in the 2025-26 season.
