The Winnipeg Jets are now 48 days away from being back at home at Canada Life Centre to kick off their 2025-26 regular season against the Dallas Stars. As we approach the end of August, it’s a good time to start thinking about who you’d like to draft for your Fantasy Hockey team. Last year around this time I wrote this article, where I talked about Jets players that you might want to include on your roster.
It’s not surprising that one year later, most of the players mentioned last year are still in the conversation for quality Fantasy Hockey players. I’ve been looking around for different rankings, including Matt Larkin’s extensive and detailed top 300 list from Daily Faceoff, and Yahoo’s Fantasy Hockey pre-draft player rankings. I landed on a recent list from August 14th on NHL.com that does a straightforward Fantasy Hockey top 200 player rankings. Seven Winnipeg Jets players are included on this list. Here’s where NHL.com has these Jets players ranked (in standard leagues) with some reasoning as to why you’d want to draft them around that spot for the upcoming Fantasy Hockey year.
11. Connor Hellebuyck (G)
You probably know if you’re an experienced Fantasy Hockey player that goalies can be really hit or miss. Sometimes you wait too long to draft a goalie and it ends up costing you, or sometimes you pick your two goalies too early which effects the rest of your roster. One thing is for sure though, Connor Hellebuyck will get you wins. It’ll be tough to replicate his career high 47 win season, but you can likely put him down for 40 wins this season, making him extremely worthy of that early 2nd round pick in a 10 team league.
13. Kyle Connor (F)
Not far behind Hellebuyck is Kyle Connor, who will be the guy who gets you goals. While fantasy points are made up from an entire player’s stat line, goals are one of the most important categories. Aside from a few elite goal scorers ranked in the top 10, Connor will be a great option in the 2nd round. If the Jets 1st powerplay unit can replicate their success from last season, this will only increase Connor’s value in Fantasy Hockey as the season progresses.
22. Mark Scheifele (F)
Moving down into the 3rd round (in a 10 team league) you will find Mark Scheifele as a balanced scoring option. The powerplay points will make him a valuable asset to your team, and you can count on Scheifele contributing to a lot of Kyle Connor’s goals. Compared to some of the other players ranked between 20-30, Scheifele is one of the saver options because of his talented linemates Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi, who work together to boost each other’s play every night.
74. Gabriel Vilardi (F)
A late round option that is worth considering at forward is Gabriel Vilardi. A thirty goal season is on the horizon for Vilardi, and much like Connor and Scheifele, his powerplay points will be valuable to have on your team. Aside from goal scoring, Vilardi’s playmaking abilities are improving, and he’ll be dishing out assists all season to his linemates Connor and Scheifele. A sneaky good mid to late round addition.
86. Josh Morrissey (D)
I’m surprised Morrissey is ranked this low on the list, but traditionally defencemen aren’t as valuable in Fantasy Hockey. Morrissey projects to have another 60+ point season, and he’s also on the Jets’ elite 1st powerplay unit, which adds to his Fantasy Hockey value. An additional stat that is usually considered among defencemen in Fantasy Hockey is blocked shots. While Morrissey wasn’t near the top of that list last season, he still averaged 1.41 blocked shots per game, which in Fantasy Hockey could be that little boost you need to help you win your league or matchup.
152. Neal Pionk (D) and 163. Cole Perfetti (F)
No other Jets managed to crack the top 100, but two other Jets find themselves near the middle of the next 100 players. Both of these players will be on the Jets 2nd powerplay unit, which if you can’t tell already is one of my focuses for players I want to draft in Fantasy Hockey this season. Pionk’s blocked shots per game was 1.46 last season (above his career average) and he’ll be good for some secondary scoring mostly through assists. Cole Perfetti had close to a breakout season in 2024-25, but the potential is there for an even better 2025-26 season. Perfetti is a sleeper option in the final rounds of Fantasy Hockey as a player that you could look back at after the season is over as a draft night steal.
The Jets’ elite starting goalie and their top 6 scoring leaders from the past season all made this list. I tried to justify any other Jets players possibly being “snubbed” from this top 200 ranking, but I couldn’t find one player in particular that jumps out as a player you absolutely need to have on your Fantasy Hockey team. Now you know when’s a good time to draft your favorite Jets players, and you can prepare yourselves for another exciting 2025-26 Fantasy Hockey season.
