Connor Hellebuyck made 30 saves and Mark Scheifele made franchise history as the Winnipeg Jets earned their fourth consecutive victory Saturday night, defeating the Nashville Predators 4-1 at Canada Life Centre.
Scheifele, sitting just one point shy of Blake Wheeler’s franchise-leading 812 points heading into the night, wasted no time breaking the record. Less than three minutes into the game, Kyle Connor set up Scheifele for his signature one-timer on the power play, beating Juuse Saros high glove. The goal marked Scheifele’s sixth of the season and ninth point, both team highs.
Midway through the first period, Nino Niederreiter doubled Winnipeg’s lead after taking a stretch pass from Vladislav Namestnikov and finishing on his backhand past Saros.
JAWS ARE ON THE FLOOR 😱
The second period saw no scoring, but plenty of Nashville power plays that the Jets’ penalty kill successfully killed off.
In the third, the crowd erupted when Logan Stanley unleashed a booming shot from the blue line that found its way through traffic and in for his second goal of the year.
INJECT THIS INTO MY VEINS 😫
Namestnikov then added a power-play tally late in the frame on a beautiful tic-tac-toe sequence with Niederreiter and Jonathan Toews to make it 4-0.
THE BOYS ARE CLICKING 🤩
Nashville spoiled Hellebuyck’s shutout with 1:04 remaining when Michael Bunting scored to make it 4-1, but the Jets comfortably closed things out to improve to 4-1-0. Hellebuyck finished with a stellar .968 save percentage (SV%).

“Obviously, I’m tremendously honoured,” Scheifele said postgame. “I’m still trying to catch another guy (Dale Hawerchuk). For that one, it will be cool.”
The Canada Life Centre crowd was electric, not only celebrating Scheifele’s milestone, but also roaring when Stanley dropped the gloves with Michael McCarron in the second period, chanting “Stanley, Stanley, Stanley.”
“He’s been fantastic here at the start of the year,” Scheifele added about Stanley. “That was a big goal in a game where the momentum was kind of tipping to Nashville. He’s been playing great, obviously with the injury to Samberg, we’ve needed guys to step up, and he’s done that.”
The Jets now head to Calgary for a Monday night matchup against the Flames. Puck drop is set for 8:30 p.m. CDT on TSN3.
