Dylan Samberg out 6-8 weeks with broken wrist
The Winnipeg Jets will open the 2025-26 season without defenceman Dylan Samberg, who will miss 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist.
Head coach Scott Arniel confirmed the injury Monday, noting that Samberg was hurt in Saturday’s preseason game against the Calgary Flames. The 26-year-old went down the tunnel in the second period after an awkward hit from Flames forward Ryan Lomberg and did not return.
Samberg, who signed a three-year, $17.25 million contract with Winnipeg this summer, tallied six goals and 14 assists in 60 games last season.
Hellebuyck leaves practice early
Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck left practice early Monday after “not feeling right,” according to Arniel. The head coach said it’s uncertain whether the reigning Vezina and Hart Trophy winner will play Tuesday’s preseason game in St. Paul against the Minnesota Wild.

Connor Hellebuyck left the ice not feeling right, says Scott Arniel. Arniel is going to get more info now after speaking with us. Unsure if Hellebuyck plays tomorrow. Hellebuyck left the ice prior to the start of Winnipeg's practice today. Squared up to a shot, then skated off.

Hellebuyck has yet to appear in a preseason contest. The Jets have two games remaining, Tuesday in Minnesota and Friday in Calgary.
The veteran goaltender started 63 games last season, finishing with a 47-12-3 record and a .925 SV%.
Jets place Di Giuseppe, Shaw on waivers
The Jets placed forwards Phillip Di Giuseppe and Mason Shaw on waivers Monday for the purpose of reassignment to the Manitoba Moose.

A pair of #NHLJets forwards are on this list today. Shaw and Di Giuseppe just wrapped up their training camp skate moments ago. No additional cuts have been announced by the team today so far.

Shaw returns to the Moose after posting 37 points (17G, 20A) in 72 games last season, while Di Giuseppe heads to Manitoba fresh off a Calder Cup win with the Abbotsford Canucks, where he tallied nine points (4G, 5A) in 22 games.
The Jets return to action Tuesday night when they visit the Minnesota Wild at Grand Casino Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CDT, with the game available to stream on Winnipegjets.com.
