Report: Winnipeg Jets sign Paul Postma to two-year contract with 887K AAV

The Winnipeg Jets bring back the underrated and under appreciated, right-hand shot, defender Paul Postma for another two years.
The 26-year-old adds competent depth to the Jets right side, which already unfairly carries Dustin Byfuglien, Jacob Trouba, and Tyler Myers. While Postma would likely be the third best right-shot on most teams in the NHL, and even second best on a few others, the Jets carry an embarrassment of riches on their right side for their defensive core.
Postma scored 142 points over 219 games in the AHL, a 0.65 point per game pace, as a defender with elite power play production. He also scored 12 points over 22 games in AHL playoffs.
In the NHL Postma has only scored 17 points over 100 games, a 0.17 point per game pace, with 4 of his 17 points coming from the power play.
At even strength, Postma’s underlying metrics include a 0.51 point per sixty minutes pace, a 52.05 Corsi percentage, and a +0.93 relative Corsi percentage (team Corsi with player on ice versus on bench). On the power play, Postma has averaged a 3.25 point per sixty minute pace, which sits between Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom for the Jets best power play production.
