Here we go again, Jets fans. Admittedly I left this game preview a little late, as game 4 is coming up in a matter of minutes by the time you will be seeing this post. The Winnipeg Jets take on the Colorado Avalanche in game 4, with the Avalanche leading the series 2-1. Game 4 is at Ball Arena and puck drop is set for 1:30 pm CT.
Now that it&#8217;s game 4 of the series, you really begin to start getting a feel for how each team is approaching their opponent. Both teams have some things they&#8217;d like to improve on still, particularly the Jets when it comes to slowing down the Avalanche offense. The 3rd period of game 3 saw the Jets take multiple penalties and the Avalanche scored 5 goals to win 6-2. The Jets will need to regroup and try to play how they did in the earlier parts of game 3.
Josh Morrissey spoke with the media about the mindset of the team going in to game 4, and said
<blockquote>&#8220;You can take some real positives from that game, especially in the first 2 periods. It&#8217;s a 7 game series for a reason. Unfortunately, we dropped this one and Game 4 is pivotal. We need to come out with our game and play a full 60 minute game.&#8221;</blockquote>
Will the Jets be able to finally find their defensive structure that they&#8217;ve been looking for since game 1? That&#8217;s probably the biggest aspect of the Jets game that they&#8217;ve been looking to improve on, but there&#8217;s a few other details to their game that could help them get the win. One of those which I mentioned before is the Jets needing to stay disciplined. Game 3 got physical and chippy towards the end of the game, so it&#8217;ll be important to keep their emotions intact and not take any unnecessary penalties.
There are 2 lineup changes to note for the Winnipeg Jets in game 4. The 1st one is that Brenden Dillon is out day-to-day with a hand injury after suffering a nasty cut at the end of game 3. Logan Stanley will slide back into the lineup on the 3rd pairing with Nate Schmidt, who was added to the lineup in game 3 in the place of Logan Stanley.
The other lineup change is that Axel Jonsson-Fjallby was called up and will be inserted into the 4th line in the place of David Gustafsson. Jonsson-Fjallby places a fairly defensive style of play, which is needed, but also the move had some people questioning if he was the right choice to put in the lineup. One name that seems to be suggested for someone who deserves a chance to play is Cole Perfetti, a young forward who could bring some much needed scoring to the Jets lineup.
Regardless of who is in and who is out of the lineup, the Jets will need to come ready to play in this critical game 4. They&#8217;ll look to avoid going down 3-1 in the series before returning home to Winnipeg for game 5. The Jets will look to answer to all the questions they&#8217;ve been getting throughout the series and tie the series up at 2.
