After being shut out 4-0 Friday night in Edmonton, the Winnipeg Jets look to finally grab their first preseason win as they host the Calgary Flames at Canada Life Centre on Saturday evening.
The Oilers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Darnell Nurse and Josh Samanski. Noah Philp extended the lead early in the second, and Kasperi Kapanen capped things off in the third. Jets goaltender Domenic DiVincentiis stopped 16 shots in the loss, several of them high-danger chances. His best came on a shorthanded 2-on-1, stretching left to right across the crease to keep the score from getting worse. Winnipeg finished 0-for-4 on the power play, while Ville Heinola led the team in ice time at 23:30.
Tonight will feature a completely different Jets group. One squad traveled to Edmonton, while another stayed in Winnipeg for the second half of the back-to-back.
