The Winnipeg Jets make a quick pitstop back at home to face the Philadelphia Flyers for the first time this season before heading east for a four-game road trip, starting in Long Island.
The Jets had their franchise-record 11-game winning streak snapped in their last outing, falling 2-1 in regulation to the Nashville Predators. Neal Pionk scored the lone goal for Winnipeg, his ninth of the season, while Eric Comrie made 29 saves in the loss. Despite the defeat, Winnipeg remains at the top of both the Central Division and the overall NHL standings with a 42-15-3 record, totaling 87 points.
Philadelphia is coming off a 5-4 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. The Flyers were up 3-0 in the second period, then 4-2 later in the frame, but Pittsburgh rallied to tie the game in the third period, sending it to overtime. Evgeni Malkin sealed the win for the Penguins in the extra period. Flyers goalie Sam Ersson made 20 saves, and Calder candidate Matvei Michkov scored his 19th of the season in the loss.
The last time Winnipeg and Philadelphia faced off was during the 2023-24 regular season. Their most recent meeting in Philadelphia saw the Flyers dominate with a 4-1 victory. When the Flyers visited Winnipeg, they shut out the Jets 2-0, sweeping the season series and outscoring Winnipeg 6-1.
With Comrie starting in the previous game, Connor Hellebuyck will get the nod between the pipes tonight. Hellebuyck earned a 4-1 win over Ottawa on Wednesday, stopping 24 shots and posting a .960 save percentage in the victory.
Ivan Fedotov is expected to start for Philadelphia. He hasn’t played since Feb. 6th against Washington which was a 4-3 regulation loss. He stopped 14 of the few 18 shots he faced for a .778 SV%.
