The second-last regular season Saturday night matchup goes down tonight in Utah for the Winnipeg Jets, as they visit the Delta Center to take on the Utah Hockey Club.
Winnipeg is aiming to wrap up their three-game road trip with a winning record. They’re currently 1-1-0 after a dominant 4-0 shutout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night. Eric Comrie stood tall in net, stopping all 26 shots to record his second shutout of the season.
Nikolaj Ehlers left Thursday’s game in the third period after taking a shot off the foot from teammate Cole Perfetti. He was slow to get up, needed help to the bench, and didn’t return—he’s a game-time decision tonight.
The Jets will try to replicate their quick start from the Vegas game. Mark Scheifele (37) and Adam Lowry (15) each scored in the first period to give Winnipeg a 2-0 lead. Colin Miller ripped home his fourth of the year on the power play to extend the lead to 3-0, and Perfetti sealed it with an empty-netter—his 18th of the season and third straight game with a goal.
Jaret Anderson-Dolan made his Jets debut in Vegas, skating on the fourth line with Brandon Tanev and Morgan Barron. In 8:54 of ice time, he didn’t register a shot but was effective in the corners, forcing turnovers. He’s expected to slot in again tonight if Ehlers can’t go.
The shutout marked Winnipeg’s ninth of the season, setting a new franchise record for most in a single campaign, surpassing last year’s total of eight.
“These guys block shots like crazy,” said Comrie postgame. “You see it up and down the lineup. It’s phenomenal. It’s a lot of fun playing with this group.”
The Jets last visited the Delta Center on January 20th and were handed a 5-2 loss. They’ll want to avoid a repeat performance, especially with Utah still holding slim playoff hopes and a passionate crowd that can swing the momentum.
