The Winnipeg Jets (31-13-2) will play their first ever game tonight in Salt Lake City at the Delta Center—home of the Utah Hockey Club (19-19-7).
Winnipeg is coming off a frustrating 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. A game where the Jets dominated the contest but couldn’t solve the goaltender—Dustin Wolf. Although the Jets lost, Adam Lowry recorded his 11th goal of the season, redirecting a point shot from Colin Miller. The Jets also wrapped up an eight-game homestand with a 4-2-2 record.
Utah on the other hand came up victorious in their last game, defeating the St. Louis Blues 4-2. Clayton Keller had a stellar performance scoring one goal, tallying 3 assists and earning the First Star of the Game. Utah is 2-4-0 in their last six matchups and they have been outscored 14-19 in those six games.
Winnipeg and Utah last met on Nov. 5th, 2024, in Winnipeg, where the Jets earned a 3-0 shutout victory. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 21 shots, while Nino Niederreiter scored twice, including one empty-net goal, and earned First Star honors.
These two clubs will play each other twice this week. The first matchup in Utah at the Delta Center tonight and the second matchup in Winnipeg at Canada Life Centre on Friday. Then the season series will be wrapped up in Utah on Apr. 5th.
Connor Hellebuyck is the expected starter for the Jets. Hellebuyck did not play against the Flames but started against the Seattle Kraken last Thursday, stopping 18 of 19 shots in a 2-1 victory for a .947 SV%.
Connor Ingram is projected to start for Utah. Ingram last started in the 4-2 win against the Blues, where he stopped 22 of 24 shots for a .917 SV%.
