The biggest game of the season for both the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars goes down tonight at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
And when we say “biggest,” we mean it—this one could decide who takes the Central Division crown. While both teams still have three games remaining after tonight, a regulation win for Winnipeg would give them a commanding six-point lead over the Stars, putting them in the driver’s seat.
The Jets will look to build on their dominant 3–1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Monday, where they held their opponent to just 15 shots on goal and delivered one of their most complete 60-minute efforts of the season. They’ll need more of the same against a star-powered Dallas squad that’s been a force all year.
Jets fans may have briefly converted into Canucks fans last night as Vancouver visited Dallas. The Stars looked in control with leads of 3–0 and 5–2, but the Canucks had other plans. With just over a minute left in regulation, Vancouver exploded for three goals in 53 seconds to tie the game and force overtime—where they sealed the win. The result was a big one for Winnipeg, as it prevented Dallas from earning two points and, importantly, kept them from matching the Jets in regulation wins—the first tiebreaker in the standings.
Neal Pionk remains a game-time decision for tonight’s contest. The 29-year-old defenceman has been sidelined since March 11th with a lower-body injury. Meanwhile, Nikolaj Ehlers and Colin Miller remain day-to-day.
Winnipeg notched its franchise-record 53rd win of the season on Monday, surpassing the 52-win campaigns of 2017–18 and 2023–24. Tonight, they’ll aim for No. 54—and perhaps their biggest statement victory of the year.
