The Winnipeg Jets have brought in quite a few new faces so far this offseason, and with that comes a fresh batch of jersey numbers that we’ll see on the ice this fall.

David Gustafsson, who’s worn No. 19 the past three seasons, is giving up the number for a pretty good reason — Jonathan Toews is coming home. The three-time Stanley Cup champ will continue wearing the iconic No. 19 he wore his entire career with Chicago. Gustafsson was reportedly happy to hand it over to the hometown legend and will switch to No. 41, a number he wore earlier in his time with the Jets.

Another number swap comes from defenceman Ville Heinola, who’s giving up No. 14 for newcomer Gustav Nyquist. Heinola will now wear No. 34, the number he’s used with the Manitoba Moose.

Tanner Pearson, who was with the Golden Knights last season, will keep wearing No. 70. The last Jet to wear that number was defenceman Joe Morrow back in 2018–19.

Here’s a quick rundown of the rest of the new numbers:

Cole Koepke – No. 45 (last worn by defenceman Declan Chisholm in 2022–23)
Walker Duehr – No. 71 (last worn by forward Axel Jonsson-Fjällby in 2023–24)
Phil Di Giuseppe – No. 89 (last worn by forward Sam Gagner in 2022–23)
Samuel Fagemo – No. 16 (last worn by forward Shawn Matthias in 2017–18)
Kale Clague – No. 56 (last worn by forward Marko Dano in 2017–18)
Isaac Poulter – No. 30 (last worn by goaltender Laurent Brossoit in 2020–21)

These numbers could still change, especially since most of these players are expected to spend time with the Moose this year. But for now, these are the numbers listed on the Jets’ roster — and what we’ll likely see during the NHL preseason in September.
