Patrik Laine Diagnosed with Concussion

Jan 8, 2017, 14:10 ESTUpdated: Invalid DateTime
As per coach Paul Maurice, Patrik Laine has been diagnosed with a concussion and there is no timeline for his return.
It was the result that Jets fans feared as coach Paul Maurice spoke to the media about the concussion diagnosis for Patrik Laine. While there is no concrete timeline for his return, Maurice did say that the young star was watching practice this morning with a smile on his face. Admittedly, Laine was not feeling his best but Maurice is hopeful that Laine will return to the lineup after the concussion protocols have been met.
On the hit, Maurice said, “This is happening fast. You don’t have time, you need to check early and know what your lanes are like coming up the ice… there’s nothing wrong with that pass”
In regards to whether or not the hit was dirty Maurice followed up with, “It’s a hard hit and when you get a collision like that here aren’t the markers of a dirty hit. The elbows aren’t up, they’re not off their feet… they collided and both heads hit. We had a bad result.”
In the interim, the Jets have a hole to fill on the wing and it sounds as though Stafford may get a chance, albeit temporarily, in that role. More to come…
