Winnipeg Jets crowning jewel in the prospect cupboard is Nikolaj Ehlers, no arguments.

Just one point shy of a two point per game pace, Ehlers dominated the QMJHL with a regular season consisting of 37 goals and 64 assists in just 51 games.

His dominance has transitioned in the post-season as well. Ehlers leads the Quebec Major Junior league with 15 points in seven games, on a team that has only scored 19 goals.

Ehlers is the Jets most dynamic hockey player, but not all of his goals are dynamic.

The Halifax Mooseheads are in the most do-or-die situation possible. It’s game seven overtime; the stuff legends are made of and from.

The Mooseheads came back from a one goal deficit with five minutes remaining from Phillipe Gadoury deflecting a Nik Ehlers shot into the net.

The game then goes into overtime. If Halifax scores, they make it to the second round.

Chaos ensues in front of the Mooseheads net, only for Ehlers to break out with the puck. He gains zone entry, moving to the outside while looking for a possible shooting lane or passing option. He sees his opportunity, uses the defender as a screen, and flips the most casual wrist shot possible…

… and he scores!
