Today, in 1985, Winnipeg Jets’ Paul MacLean became the club’s second 100-point scorer in franchise history.

MacLean reached the feat notching an assist in a 6-5 win against the Edmonton Oilers. The feat was reached in 1981-82 and 83-84 by Dale Hawerchuk, and MacLean’s 41 goals and 60 assists got him there in 1984-85.

Drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 1978, MacLean only ever played one game for the club before being traded to the Jets in July 1981 alongside Bryan Maxwell and Ed Staniowski.

MacLean spent seven seasons with the Jets seeing much success alongside Hawerchuk where he tallied three 30-goal seasons and three 40-goal seasons. He was eventually traded to Detroit in 1988 for Brent Ashton where he spent a season, before two in St. Louis.

He eventually retired in 1991 at 32 years old before moving into coaching.
