This evening, the NHL revealed its final award winners and as expected, Winnipeg Jets star, Connor Hellebuyck, was named the Vezina Trophy winner as the league’s best goaltender.

From the start of the season until its unlikely end in the playoffs, Connor Hellebuyck was about as rock-solid for the Winnipeg Jets between the pipes as one could hope to accomplish. In 56 starts (58 total appearances), Hellebuyck backstopped the Jets to a 31-21-5 record with six shutouts, boasting a 2.57 GAA, a sparkling .922 save% and ranked second overall in starts (56), wins (31), and minutes (3,268:33). The 27-year-old from Commerce, Michigan, native recorded 31 of the Jets’ 37 wins, which accounted for the second-highest percentage among goaltenders on the 24 teams that resumed play for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Not only were his stats impressive, but Hellebuyck was also incredibly busy. In total, he faced 37 shots or more in 13 of his starts, posting a 10-1-2 record, 2.08 GAA and .949 save% over those contests. In total, Hellebuyck received 19 first-place votes for the award, amassing 123 voting points, squeaking past second-place Tuukka Rask from the Boston Bruins (99 points), and Cup finalist, Andrei Vasilevskiy (31 points), from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
