The Manitoba Moose kicked off a six-game road swing this past week, making stops in Milwaukee on Thursday against the Admirals, Rockford on Saturday versus the IceHogs, and Chicago on Sunday to face the Wolves.

Thursday, Jan. 8 – Milwaukee 7, Manitoba 3

Manitoba opened the trip in Milwaukee with a solid start. After surrendering the game’s first goal in the opening frame, the Moose responded with two quick tallies in less than a minute late in the period. Colby Barlow showed off some sweet dangles to beat Magnus Chrona for his third of the season, before captain Mason Shaw put Manitoba ahead 2-1 by forcing a turnover in the offensive zone and surprising Chrona with a quick release.
The wheels came off in the second period, as Milwaukee scored three times. Andreas Englund tied the game at 3:03 with his second of the season, followed by goals from Cole O’Hara (8) and Daniel Carr (14) on the power play to give the Admirals a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Milwaukee kept piling it on in the third. Ryan Ufko (9), Andrew Gibson (2), and Zach L’Heureux (8) all found the back of the net to make it 7-2 just seven minutes into the final frame. The Admirals wouldn’t score again, and Brad Lambert added a late goal for Manitoba, his third of the season, with under two minutes to play, rounding out the scoring at 7-3.
Domenic DiVincentiis stopped 23 shots while Manitoba dropped to 16-13-2.

Saturday, Jan. 10 – Manitoba 3, Rockford 2 (SO)

After Thursday’s loss in Milwaukee, the Moose bounced back in Rockford and wasted no time opening the scoring. Parker Ford and Phillip Di Giuseppe broke out on a 2-on-1, and Ford snapped a wrist shot past Owen Flores for his third of the season just 1:47 into the contest, Manitoba’s first shot of the game.
The Moose held the 1-0 lead until the final minute of the second period, when Nikita Chibrikov turned the puck over on the power play. Former Moose captain Dominic Toninato capitalized, going the other way to score a shorthanded goal and tie the game 1-1 with his seventh.
Rockford took its first lead 2:51 into the third period on the power play. After Manitoba had a shorthanded chance of its own, the IceHogs countered, with Rem Pitlick scoring his ninth of the season to make it 2-1.
Following a waived-off second goal from Ford, Walker Duehr delivered late heroics. With under four minutes remaining, he stepped into a shorthanded slap shot and beat Flores for his 10th of the season, becoming the first Moose to reach double digits, and tying the game 2-2. Ville Heinola picked up his second assist of the night on the play.
Neither regulation nor 3-on-3 overtime decided a winner, sending the game to a shootout. In the fourth round, Heinola was the lone scorer, showing off slick hands to beat Flores for the game-winner.
Thomas Milic made 12 saves as Manitoba improved to 17-13-2.

Sunday, Jan. 11 – Chicago 4, Manitoba 3 (OT)

The Moose hit the midway point of their road trip Sunday afternoon in Rosemont, taking on the Wolves in the second half of a back-to-back while looking to close out the week with another win.
After a scoreless first period, Samuel Fagemo opened the scoring at 4:14 of the second. He walked in off the rush and fired a shot that Cayden Primeau kicked out, only for the rebound to come right back to Fagemo, who buried his second chance for his 10th of the season. He became the second Moose skater to reach double digits this year.
Moments later, Justin Robidas struck twice in just 19 seconds, his 14th and 15th goals, to give Chicago a 2-1 lead.
Heinola tied the game at 11:34, redirecting Kale Clague’s slap shot past Primeau for his second of the season, an unusual play that saw a defenceman tipping a shot from another defenceman.
Late in the middle frame, Dominik Badinka restored Chicago’s lead, scoring his fourth of the year to send the Wolves into the intermission up 3-2.
Much like Saturday night, Duehr had more late-game magic in him. He charged through the neutral zone, worked his way around the net, and beat Primeau with a wraparound for his 11th of the season, tying the game with under five minutes to play.
For the second straight game, Manitoba needed overtime and carried nearly two minutes of a power play into the extra frame. The Moose couldn’t convert, and Chicago ended it 2:07 into overtime when Felix Unger Sorum’s wrist shot deflected off Domenick Fensore and past DiVincentiis. After a lengthy review to determine whether the puck was gloved in, the goal stood, giving the Wolves a 4-3 win.
DiVincentiis made 25 saves, Heinola extended his point streak to two games (1G, 3A), and the Moose slipped to 17-13-3.
Manitoba will wrap up the road trip with a rematch Tuesday in Rockford, followed by a back-to-back set Friday and Saturday in Laval against the Rocket. All games can be streamed on AHLTV.
