Kyle Connor had a birthday performance to remember in the Winnipeg Jets’ 3–0 win over the Seattle Kraken on Thursday.
Winnipeg’s leading scorer turned 25 on Dec. 9 and celebrated with two goals in the third period against Seattle. The first came just 47 seconds into the final frame, with Connor one-timing a pass by @Mark Scheifele past Kraken goaltender @Philipp Grubauer.
@Logan Stanley picked up the secondary helper on Connor’s 16th goal of the season, shown here on the official Sportsnet Twitter account:
Connor double-dipped at the 14:54 mark of the period, impossibly lifting the puck over Grubauer’s shoulder from the top of the crease after dancing past defenceman @Adam Larsson at the blue line.
While Connor’s second goal of the night (and his 17th of the season) was primarily an individual effort, @Blake Wheeler recorded an assist on the play.
Umm... yeah, I'm speechless. Kyle Connor is incredible at scoring goals. #NHLJets
@Dominic Toninato also scored for Winnipeg, which improved to 13–9–4 with the victory. @Connor Hellebuyck made 25 saves for his 10th win (and first shutout) of the season.
Winnipeg will return to action on Friday for a date with the Vancouver Canucks at 9:00 p.m. CT.
