The Jets welcome the Blues to town as Winnipeg tries to extend their winning streak to three games. The Blues are coming off a win themselves as they downed the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday evening. This will be a rematch of the first game of the season where the Jets beat the Blues 5-1. While the score sounds lopsided, the game was much closer as the Jets were saved by a great performance by Connor Hellebuyck.

Jets Notebook

  • The Jets are coming off back to back wins for the first time this season after beating Vancouver on Thursday and Arizona on Saturday.
  • The longest homestand of the season has been kind to the Jets so far as they have gone 3-0-1 since it began against Carolina last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Jets home record overall is now a sparkling 4-0-1.
  • A change in the powerplay has led to great success in the past few games. It’s been rocking since putting Morrissey on the top unit as they have been operating at 50% over the past three games since the change was made.
  • More production is needed out of the Jets high-end talent. While Connor has been lighting the lamp, Laine, Scheifele, and Ehlers have all struggled to start the year. Laine only has three goals, Scheifele only has two, and Ehlers is still looking to end his enormous goal-scoring drought that dates back to April 3.

Blues Notebook

  • It’s been a tough start for the Blues after most people though they would take a step forward after their big off-season.
  • The Blues are heading into Winnipeg to cap off a three game road trip where they lost to the Canadiens and beat the Maple Leafs.
  • It’s a weird schedule for St. Louis as they have only played two games in a week. Following their game in Winnipeg, they have another two days off which means they will have only played three games in the span of ten days.
  • Jake Allen has been struggling to start the season as he has an .886 SV% and a goals against average of 3.44. The Blues need Allen to step up his game if they have any chance to make the playoffs.
  • The off-season acquisitions are leading the way for the Blues. O’Reilly and Perron both have seven points on the year. Meanwhile, Tarasenko has had a quiet start to the season and only has two goals in the first seven games.
