The Jets are hoping to rebound after last game as the Islanders are in town tonight. The Islanders will be without former Jets captain Andrew Ladd who recently had season ending surgery on his knee. He’s had a rough year in New York with only 11 points in 26 games. In the only previous meeting between these two, Winnipeg came away with a 3-1 victory. This game marks the 40th home game for Winnipeg which means they only have one more in the regular season. They host Montreal on Saturday before hitting the road to close out the year.

Islanders Player To Watch

#27 Anders Lee – C

Lee currently leads the Islanders in goals with 27 . It’s been a streaky year for Lee as he previously went 11 games without a goal during January and February. Since then, he’s been more consistent, even putting together a four game goal streak earlier this month. Currently, he’s gone cold once again without a single point in the last five games. Watch for Lee to bounce back in this one as he tries to heat up for the playoffs. In the previous meeting between these clubs, Lee scored the only goal for the Islanders.

Last Islanders Game

The Islanders were facing a desperate Blue Jackets team who is on the very edge of the playoff line. The desperation showed as Columbus led from start to finish. The Islanders had some chances but couldn’t beat Bobrovsky who recorded the shutout.

Islanders Notes

  • As mentioned above, the Islanders will be without Andrew Ladd for the rest of the season after he sustained an ACL tear earlier this week against the Coyotes. Even though Ladd hasn’t been productive on the ice this year, he’s still a valuable mentor to the young players on the roster.
  • Even though the season is nearing it’s end, the Islanders have plenty to play for as they are fighting for home-ice advantage in the first round. It appears that the Islanders will be playing the Penguins, but it’s yet to be determined who will be the host.
  • From eyesonisles.com: “The New York Islanders picked the absolute worst time for their offense to go MIA

Jets Player To Watch

#17 Adam Lowry – C

It’s been a solid year for Adam Lowry in most facets of the game. However, the one area that has been lacking is the offensive side with only 18 points on the year. Lowry is well behind his goals and points per game from each of the last two seasons. He hasn’t scored at a lower rate since his sophomore season in 2015-16 and currently has gone nine straight games without a point. With such a rough stretch, look for Lowry to finally break through against the Islanders, who have allowed four or more goals in three of their last five games.

Last Jets Game

The Jets defensive game let them down as the Stars were able to generate strong chances all night. The Stars were lethal on the powerplay and the Jets weren’t able to make a comeback after falling behind 4-0. One of the only positive parts was that Laine scored his 30th goal of the year.

Jets Notes

  • Good news for Jets fans! Dustin Byfuglien was on the ice participating in yesterday’s practice.
  • It looks like the city of Winnipeg is ready to party once again as preparations are underway for the street parties during the playoffs.
  • Connor Hellebuyck has been really good lately as he had back to back shutouts last week. The game against Dallas wrecked those streaks, but it appears that Helle is starting to find his groove as the season is winding down.
